University of Maryland (Sprint)

The University of Maryland is a typical large college campus consisting of buildings, sidewalks, roads, parking areas, and open grass areas. Indoor bathroom facilities will be available (reminder: no metal spikes are allowed anywhere on this campus!)

Venue Parking: 

There are two options for campus parking. The first is Lot 9c, with 129 spots and expected to fill early. Enter the campus heading South on Paint Branch Drive from the University Blvd. intersection (here). Follow the QOC event signs to parking lot 9c (route is here). High-profile vehicles should come early and park in this lot.

The second option is in the garage at The Hotel at the University of Maryland, with 850 spaces across Baltimore Blvd. from the main campus (located here).

All other campus parking facilities are off-limits and under quarantine. 

All visitors must pay to park on campus. Pay with a credit card at the self-service kiosk in the parking lots.

After parking, competitors should follow the QOC signs to the Assembly area at the Kim Engineering Building. For directions from lot 9c, click here.

For both Sat/BSU/Middle and Sun/Bacon Ridge/Long events:

Bathroom information:  Porta johns will be located at the parking/registration area and at the shuttle drop-off points. 

Clothing return: Since start/finishes are near each other both days there is no clothing return. There will be a place to leave clothing for later retrieval.

BSU (Middle)

Low lying technically complex wooded terrain between Bowie State University and the Patuxent River. The area is flat with little major contour relief. There are some intricate marshy/stream/wet areas, and a few intricate small hill/depression areas. There are a fair number of trails and extensive vegetation in parts of the map, so route choice will be a major factor in some courses.

All competitors should park in the lot under the solar panels. Anyone with a high-profile vehicle may park in the open-air lot adjacent to the solar paneled lot. Advanced course competitors will be shuttled to and from the start/finish area.

Bacon Ridge Natural Area (Long)

Bacon Ridge is a long main stream valley with numerous side streams. Stream valleys can be marshy. Unique feature are the mostly flat plateaus with steep hillsides down to the stream valley. Plateaus are circular, covering 270-degree arcs, with numerous reentrants. Extensive curvy hiking/mountain bike trails wind all around the plateaus. The woods tend to be very open on the plateaus, with some greener areas in the valley areas.

All competitors must park at the Anne Arundel Fairgrounds. Competitors will be shuttled to and from the start area.
