Shadowing will be allowed for competitors on the White course; age classes M-10, F-10. Shadowing may be allowed for older classes with the Meet Director’s permission, but only if there are extenuating circumstances presented. Those shadowing must not communicate with the competitor and may not lead the competitor. Those shadowing are there for the safety/comfort of their child and should not offer assistance of any kind. If assistance is given to the child and the assistance aids the child in successfully completing a course, then the child will be disqualified. Child care is offered during competition on Saturday and Sunday only. Pre-registration required, with a $10 deposit per child, covering first 2 hours. Rate is $5/child/hour, with fees for additional hours or children beyond deposit collected at the event. Child care will be provided on-site while parents are competing. Sports gear vendors will be participating. Berman Orienteering Supply will sell items on Saturday and Sunday within the camps. REI will have an information booth. Axis Gear is anticipated to sell at the camps. Additionally, there may be one vendor at the Meet Headquarters Hotel (Ramada Inn, Triangle, VA) on Friday. Food Concession Vending: The USOF Juniors will sell items on Day 1 of the Individual Championships (Saturday) in Camp 5. There will not be a food vendor on the Sprint Day (Friday) or for Day 2 of the Individual Championships (Sunday). The Juniors will grill: hamburgers, hot dogs, sausages, chips, and drinks. After race refreshments will be available. Cell phone coverage is somewhat poor in the park--especially the western parts. Competitors staying at Oak Ridge Campground or visiting the interior of the park by driving on the Scenic Drive will not be able to travel the Mawavi Rd. or Burma Rd. to get to meet assembly sites. Designated parking areas must be accessed from exterior entrances as shown on the locator maps. Control Descriptions will be approximately 2.5” wide. Depending upon the number of controls, they may be up to 8” long.
